Trail Talk – 12/29/25
Good afternoon Troop 244!!!
Happy Monday! Happy almost the end of 2025!! Crazy to think, isn’t it? I hope that you all had great Christmas celebrations last week with your families or holiday celebrations if you are not one to celebrate Christmas! I hope you spent time with family and are maybe getting a chance to spend time with friends as well. I am going to be completely honest with everyone; I have been pretty much a waste this last week+. I have gotten very little done outside of visiting people, spending time with family and resting. I have been so tired and have just had no motivation to do much of anything else, including scout stuff. So, I am hoping to do more this week and you might hear a little more from me this next week. I hope that you all enjoy the transition from 2025 into 2026 in a couple of days. May this next year be filled with laughter, fun, adventure and learning!

Scoutmaster Minute – RESOLUTION – I had a friend of mine ask me the other day what my New Year’s resolutions are for the new year, 2026. To be quite frank with you all, I have never been one to be into new year’s resolutions. Mostly because I have found that I make a resolution and then about two weeks into the new year, I would break it without any thought or guilt about it. I also find that a lot of the New Year’s resolutions that people make are often stereotypical ones; to lose weight, to save money, to make a better work/life balance, etc. They are all ones that, while important, are easy to break as well. I think that is the hardest thing with making a resolution is the discipline that it takes to keep it. My friend, the other night, was telling me that one of his resolutions for the new year was to create a more organized, more structured routine for his day, both in his personal life and in his work life. Not necessarily a work life balance but more of creating a routine and sticking to it. I realized that is something I need to do and then I started thinking about all the things that I really “need” to do and how I could make every single one of them into a resolution. My friend then suggested another resolution, that “resonated” with me greatly and that was; “let’s make a resolution to hang out more often(him and me) in this new year” and that right there is a resolution that I could get behind. I think relationships are so important with family, with friends, with members of your scout troop and/or community, with your teammates or fellows cast members and whatever community you are a part of. While you won’t find me making resolutions this year, I will definitely get behind things like spending more time with my family and friends. If I were to make resolutions, I would make ones that last more than just 2026 but go beyond that. Those relationship resolutions are probably amongst the most important ones for that. I hope that you have resolutions that are as solid and unyielding throughout the year.
This is just not a motto; this is a FACT:
“What Troop Does More!!” – 244!!!
